Overview
The Mount Vernon plant, located on 112 acres on the Ohio River in the far southwestern corner of the state, produces ethanol, distillers grains livestock feed and fuel- and feed-grade corn oil. With original startup in December 2010, the plant was acquired by Royal Dutch Shell in March 2014. The facility is Royal Dutch Shell’s only ethanol plant able to directly load and ship products by barge, with its location on the Ohio River. Corn is purchased from within 50 miles.

About Mount Vernon
In 1805, Andrew and William Mcfadin arrived in the Posey county. They founded the Mcfadin bluff, which increased in settlers a couple of years later. This river town, located on the bend of the bustling Ohio River, was established in 1816. The city derives its name from a British naval hero, Edward Vernon.
